Historic Centre of Urbino — UNESCO World Heritage Site # 828 («Historic Centre of Urbino (UNESCO Heritage Site # 828)») The small hill town of Urbino, in the Marche, experienced a great cultural flowering in the 15th century, attracting artists and scholars from all over Italy and beyond, and influencing cultural developments elsewhere in Europe. Owing to its economic and cultural stagnation from the 16th century onwards, it has preserved its Renaissance appearance to a remarkable extent.

The Mayan town of Uxmal, in Yucatán, was founded c. A.D. 700 and had some 25,000 inhabitants. The layout of the buildings, which date from between 700 and 1000, reveals a knowledge of astronomy. The Pyramid of the Soothsayer, as the Spaniards called it, dominates the ceremonial centre, which has well-designed buildings decorated with a profusion of symbolic motifs and sculptures depicting Chaac, the god of rain.

A favorite vacation spot for residents of Karskrona and visitors to the city is Hoglands Park. n Hogland´s Park the trees were planted already in the 1720`s around Neptuni Market as the place was called back then. . . . During the years 1813-25 the citizens of the town laid out the park. The name Hogland Park was given by His Majesty the King in order to honour King Charles XIII who had commanded the navy at the battle of Hogland.

Now this area is famous for its graffiti, music and street food. But even 30-40 years ago, when Medellin was the cocaine capital of Colombia, these slums were the most criminal place on earth.
